Standard Wizard - Case Compression

This form is opened when you press the Select by Case Compression button on the Standard Wizard. It is used to identify a suitable Material setting for the standard.

Case compression uses the McKee formula to calculate the most suitable board grades in which to run a standard FEFCO design.

It is also opened from the Utilities - Standards - Case Compression tool. In this case it is used to calculate the theoretical box compression strength for a known material.

Case Compression - Find Material

Case Dimensions

Length

Enter the length of the case.

Width

Enter the width of the case.

Height

Enter the height of the case.

Perimeter

The perimeter is calculated from the values you have entered for the length and width, and will be displayed here.

Find Material

Case Stacking

Weight per Case

Enter the weight of a single case here.

  • Max. stacking height - Either enter the maximum height you want to stack the cases
  • Num. Cases in stack - Or enter the number of cases required in a stack

Weight stacked on bottom layer

This is calculated from the entered values and will be displayed here.

Material Filters

After entering the required material filters the list of available materials will be updated accordingly. You should then select the required material from the list and press Ok.

Safety Factor

Enter the required safety factor value or press the button to open the Safety factor form.

Board caliper (CA)

Enter the required board caliper to use.

Corrugated flute

Enter the required flute to use.

Compression Tests

Box Compression Test (BCT)

The calculated BCT value will be displayed here.

Edge Crush Test (ECT)

The calculate ECT value will be displayed here.

Ok

When you have selected the required material press this button to return to the Standard Wizard. The chosen material will be selected in the Materials list.

Cancel

Press this button to return to the Standard Wizard without selecting a material.

Print

Press this button to print the case compression information.
