This section shows how Impact treats inactive customers differently to active ones, and how to switch the customer status between active and inactive.
Inactive customers
In the Projects Browser, inactive customers are displayed in grey. See the screen shot below, where Arden Software is inactive.
Project Browser - Customer List
When creating a new project, you cannot assign it to an inactive customer, as the name will not appear in the customer dropdown list on the Project Options form.
Similarly, inactive customers will not be listed in the Save Project As form.
Changing the Status
This is done in the Customer Database window. Note that it is possible for different user groups to have different Customer Database windows. This will allow an Impact Administrator to restrict the ability to switch customer from active to inactive (and vice versa) to specific user groups.
Start the Database - Customer tool and locate the required customer, as in the screenshot below.
Customer Information - Inactive
Press the Change button and switch on the Active option. Of course the existence of the Active button depends on having an appropriate database window. Then press Close.
This customer will now be available in the Customer lists (on the Project Options form and the Save Project As form) and the Project Browser. See the screenshot below from the Project Browser.
