Creating a Menu Item for a Plugin or Script

This section describes how to create a new menu item for a Plugin or Script.

Creating your custom menu item

Right click on the main menu and select Customise. The Customise window will appear:

On the Commands page select the New Items category in the left hand window.

Drag the New Menu Item command, displayed in the right hand window, onto the main menu. A new menu item will be created in the main menu with the text New Menu Item.

Right click on the new menu item and change the text to whatever you want, e.g. Show version, and press Enter.

Selecting the plugin or script the menu item will execute

Right click again on the new menu item and choose Select Automation. The Select Automation window will appear. Select one of the following options:

  • Use the script or plugin contained in the following file 
    • Click the edit button  to browse for the desired script/plugin
    • Scripts generally have a .TXT or .VBS file extension
    • For Plugins, choose the .TLB file
  • Use the following script
    • Enter the script commands directly into the provided area

The example displayed above specifies a simple script to execute when the new menu item is clicked.
