A project is a drawing which has a unique reference (name) and code, is assigned to a particular customer and which usually has database information associated with it. It consists of one or more layers, each of which may have its own database information.
Use File - New - Project to create a project or File - Open - Browser to open one. The Project Browser can also be used to manage all the projects (for example organising them into groups).
You can modify the database information using Database - Project, including changing the customer to which it is assigned.
Depending on your Database Operation settings, there are three modes of working:
- when you save and close a project, it automatically becomes available to other users to modify
- when you save and close a project, it is saved into a Working Projects area, and it does not become available to other users to modify until you update it (File - Update)
- even when you are working on some of the project's layers, other layers may be available to other users simultaneously (when you open the project, you specify which layers are to be allocated to you)
If you use a Working Projects area, the Project Browser displays these projects. (Administrators can view any user's working projects.)
