This form is opened when you choose Customise from the right-click context menu from one of the Impact edit or tool bars. It is used to customise the Impact interface.
Customize - Toolbars
New
Press this button to create a new custom toolbar using the New Toolbar form.
Rename
This button is only available if the highlighted toolbar is a custom toolbar. It is used to rename the highlighted custom toolbar.
Delete
This button is only available if the highlighted toolbar is a custom toolbar. It is used to delete the highlighted custom toolbar.
Reset
Press this button to reset the changes that have been made to the highlighted toolbar.
Toolbars
Use the check-boxes against the toolbar names to switch on or off the display of those toolbars.
Keyboard
Press this button to open the Keyboard settings form where you can configure keyboard shortcuts etc.
Customize - Commands
This page is used to configure individual toolbars. Select the appropriate tool group from the left hand list and all of the associated tools will be displayed on the right hand side. Select a tool and its description will be displayed at the bottom of the page.
You can now drag and drop a tool icon (and name) from the right hand list onto whichever toolbar you wish. You can also drop the tool icon onto either the 2D or 3D Context Menus as shown below:
Context Menus
There is an entry in the Categories list called New Menu Items. If you choose this entry, then the Commands list will contain New Menu and New Menu Item.
Customize - Commands - New Menu Items
You can drag and drop one of these onto a toolbar to create your own customised menus and tool buttons.
Whilst this form is open, you can customise the toolbar menus and buttons by right-clicking on the one to be customised. Depending on the type of item you click on, one of the following context menus is displayed:
Context menu for normal tool button
Context menu for a custom tool button
Context menu for a custom tool menu
Reset - This option resets the selected item with default values for Name, Hint and Button Image (where appropriate).
Delete - This option removes the selected item from the toolbar.
Name: - Enter a name for the tool or menu.
Hint: - Enter a hint that will be displayed when the cursor hovers over this item. This option is only available for custom items.
Change Button Image... - This option opens the Button Editor form where you can choose a new image for this item. This option is only available for custom items.
Select Automation... - This option opens the Select Automation form where you can choose a script that should be executed when this item is selected. This option is only available for custom tool buttons.
Distribute... - Once you have completed customising your menu and menu items, and assigned the automation actions that you wish to execute for each one, you may then opt to distribute the IAP (Impact Automation Plugin) to others by generating a .iap file. This is done using the Distribute Plugin form.
Default style - Select this option to display the button image, if one has been defined, on the toolbar. If the item is used within a menu then the button image and the text will be displayed.
Text Only (Always) - Select this option to display the name using text, rather than the defined button image, on the toolbar.
Text Only (in Menus) - Select this option to display the button image if the item is on a toolbar, but the name as text if the item is in a menu.
Image and Text - Select this option to display the button image and the name as text on the toolbar and in a menu.
Begin a Group - Use this option to add a group-defining line before this item, either on the toolbar or in a menu.
Customize - Options
Large icons
Switch this option on to display large tool icons on all of the tool and edit bars, as opposed to the normal sized ones.
Use editbar icons
This option affects the options and prompts that are displayed specifically on the editbar. If you switch the option off the icons will be replaced with words to describe the options.
Show tool on editbar
Switch this option off if you don't want to display the current tool icon on the edit bar.
Show ToolTips on toolbars
When you hover the cursor over a tool icon on a toolbar the name of the tool and any associated shortcut key will be displayed. Switch this option off to disable that feature.
Show shortcut keys in ToolTips
Switch this option off to disable the display of any shortcut keys.
Use multiline toolbars
Switch this option on to allow individual toolbars to go over more than one line if they are too big to fit in the space available. Otherwise the missing toolbar items will be available via the More Buttons icon.
Menu animations
Changes the way menus display when you click on them. Choose from the following:
- None
- Random
- Unfold
- Slide
- Fade
Display Style
Changes the way toolbars are displayed. Choose from the following:
- Match Windows
- Classic
- Flat
- XP
- Office 2003
These options are also configurable via the Options > Environment > Toolbars page.
