Rubber Creator Split Lines Toolbar

Use the Mode pulldown menu to select Add splits, Automatic splits or Remove splits.

Adding a split line causes a rubber block to be split at the identified point, creating two separator rubber blocks with a specified gap between them.

Multi-up replicate . Select this option to automatically repeat the addition of split lines throughout the layout for each one-up.

The Geometry replicate option will only apply to the rubber area the part belongs to; i.e. only waste or perimeter.

If you switch on the Both sides option then a split line will be added to the rubber block on either side of the knife.

The Freehand option allows you to identify both ends of the split line. Otherwise a perpendicular split line will be created from the specified point. The Both sides option is not available when Freehand is switched on.

The Split width  is the size of the gap between the two new rubber blocks.

The Radius is the size of the circle which gives a visual aid when adding the split line.

Removing a split line joins the two rubber blocks back together.

The Geometry replicate option will only apply to the rubber area the part belongs to; i.e. only waste or perimeter.

If you have switched off the Automatic Splits options in the Master Tool Settings (One-up Interior, Perimeter or Waste Areas), then you can do the Automatic Splitting here instead.

Use the One-up Interior , Perimeter or Waste Area  buttons to choose which geometry should be automatically split.

Switch on the Settings  button to display the settings that can be edited on the edit bar.

The Split width  is the size of the gap between the two new rubber blocks.

Use the Mode pulldown menu to select Corner or Perpendicular. The Corner mode puts the split line at the intersection of two entities whereas the Perpendicular mode makes the split straight across an entity.

The Offset button is only available with the Perpendicular option. This defines the amount to offset the perpendicular split from the end of the entity that is being split.

Switch on the Individual button to allow you to edit the Minimum Length and Maximum Sections values. These are the minimum lengths of entities to be split and the maximum number of sections into which the entity can be split. This method of splitting looks at each individual entity in the rubber block and considers it for splitting if it matches the given criteria.

Switch on the Path button to allow you to choose the path mode (Distributed, Ends, Running) and Spacing. The Spacing value defines the approximate length of the pieces. This method of splitting starts at the beginning of the rubber block and continues along connected entities until it reaches the end.

Ends mode - when the path has travelled longer then the spacing value it will place a split at the end of the current entity. This will repeat until the end of the path has been reached.

Running mode - Similar to Ends but the split is placed along the length of the entity rather then at the end. This position may be shifted slightly to reduce the chance of a badly placed split.

Distributed mode - Similar to Running but this will calculate the full length of the path and divide it up into evenly spaced pieces as close to the spacing value without going over.

If both Individual and Path are selected we do a combination of the two methods. As we go though the sections in the rubber block we check to see if each one is greater than the Minimum length as defined in the Individual method. If it is, then we stop the Path method and process that individual section. After that section is processed we start a new Path and repeat the process until the end of the block.

You can use the Rewind  button to remove the most recently added split or to put back the most recently removed split.

Use the Accept button to make your split line additions or removals permanent or the Cancel  button to ignore the changes made.
