Circle Radius Centre

Edit Bar controls: Construction Circle, Radius, Start Angle, Bevel Inside, Holding Bridge, Clockwise, Create Duplicate Entities, Palette Group, Palette.

This tool allows you to create a circle by specifying the radius, a point on the circle circumference and an entity upon which the centre point will lie. The following options are required:

Construction Circle – determines if the circle is to a construction circle or in the current palette.

Radius – controls the size of the circle. You can either enter the required radius on the edit bar or use the Nudge keys to adjust the radius interactively.

Start Angle – controls the start point of the entity.

Clockwise – determines the direction of the arc.

Bevel Inside – if the current palette has side bevels defined, this will determine the direction of the bevel. See Palette Attributes.

Holding Bridge - if the current palette has holding bridges set up, this will determine the direction of any holding bridges. See Palette Attributes.

Clockwise – determines the direction of the arc.

To construct the circle, set options on the edit bar and pick a point on the circle's circumference. A flexible circle is then drawn rotating about the first picked point, then pick the entity which would run through the centre of the circle.

If the entity or an extension of the entity is not within the radius of the first point, the circle is not created.

Constraint Manager

If you have the Constraint Manager active whilst using this tool you will experience the following differences:

  • A coincident constraint is added for the first click if it's on a point on an entity
  • A radius dimension is added the first time a circle is added with a particular radius - if another circle is added with an identical radius then an equal radius constraint is added
