This tool allows you to create an elliptical shape at a specified angle by identifying two points (the opposing corners of an enclosing rectangle) or a centre-point. This tool is similar to the Draw Rectangle tool. The ellipse is constructed of Bezier curves or arc segments, in accordance with the Edit Bar options.
The following options are required to create the ellipse:
Interactive - this option allows you to pick the width & height of the ellipse, rather than entering a distance.
From Centre - allows you specify the centre of the ellipse. If From Centre is not checked, you will define a corner of the ellipse. The corner is determined by the specified Angle (0º is bottom-left, 90º is bottom-right, 180º is top-right and 270º is top-left).
Width - defines the width of the enclosing rectangle. You can either enter the required width on the edit bar or use the Left/Right Nudge keys to adjust the width interactively.
Height - defines the height of the enclosing rectangle. You can either enter the required height on the edit bar or use the Up/Down Nudge keys to adjust the height interactively.
Generate Beziers – creates an ellipse using Beziers instead of arcs
Number of Sections - specifies the total number of Bezier entities in the ellipse (when creating Beziers), or the number of arc entities in each quadrant of the ellipse (when creating arcs).
Angle - determines the angle of the ellipse.
Bevel Inside - if the current palette has side bevels defined, this will determine the direction of the bevel. See Palette Attributes.
Holding Bridge - if the current palette has holding bridges set up, this will determine the direction of any holding bridges. See Palette Attributes.
Clockwise - determines the direction of the arc.
To create the ellipse set options required on the Edit Bar:
If the From Centre option is selected, pick the centre point of the rectangle that would enclose the ellipse. Otherwise, pick the point for the first corner of the rectangle that would enclose the ellipse, then pick the opposite diagonal corner.
