Hatch

Edit Bar controls: Settings, Favourites, Boundary, All Selected, Accept.

This tool allows you to draw a hatch pattern in an area defined by existing geometry. It can work in two ways: by picking the area to be hatched, or by using the selected entities to define the area.

For both methods, the following options are required.

Settings - choose the named settings from the list. These settings are stored in the Master Tool Settings. Amongst other things, the Settings define the palette of the new entities and whether they are created in a block.

You can make a temporary override to the settings shown by pressing the button to the right of the Favourites icon and changing the values shown in the Hatch Setup dialog.

Favourites - settings may be flagged as Favourites.

Boundary - specifies whether the hatching includes a copy of the perimeter geometry. The default value of this is taken from the specified Settings.

Accept - will accept the area to be hatched and apply the selected Hatch pattern to it.

Picking the hatch area

Pick the area of the drawing which you wish to hatch - the shape will be highlighted with a white perimeter. An error message is given if you don't pick a closed area.

If the area detected is only part of the area you wish to hatch, you can hold the Shift key down while picking additional areas - these will be added to the hatch area. Similarly holding Control down will remove picked areas from the hatch area.

This part of the tool is similar to the Hole Finder tool. Click Accept to hatch the highlighted area.

Using all selected

If the selected entities define the area to be hatched, click on All Selected instead.

NOTE: The hatching can appear strange if the selected entities do not define a closed area. If several areas are enclosed then each will be hatched.
