Path Rubber

This tool allows you to create rubber geometry by identifying the path to offset from. The tool will make allowances for any entities that intersect the path to the side of the new geometry. The blocks can be split at an intersection point or the intersecting entities can be profiled dependent upon the settings. Any entities that do not split the path will be profiled. This tool is similar to the Path Finder tool.

Edit Bar controls: Interactive, Settings, Offset on left, Mode, Stop at dead ends, Replicate, Stick to palette, Mode, Rewind, Accept, Finish, Cancel.

  • Interactive - this option has the same effect as with the Path Finder tool.
  • Settings – from the pulldown list choose the Rubber Settings required. The settings are stored in the Master Tool Settings. You can make a temporary override to the settings shown by pressing the edit button and changing the values shown in the Rubber Settings form
  • Offset on left  - determines on which side of the path the new geometry is to be created.
  • Mode - Always left, Always right, Users choice. Allows you to control the direction of the path at intersections.
  • Stop at dead ends  - determines if the tool will pause when a dead end is reached.
  • Replicate  – instructs the tool to check for paths of the same configuration of entities and blocks as the path selected and automatically create the rubber geometry.
  • Stick to palette  - this option ensures that all entities in the path have the same palette as the first identified entity.
  • Mode Mitre together, New takes precedence, Old takes precedence. Determines how a block will be intersected with any existing blocks.
  • Rewind  - allows you to rewind the path findings.
  • Accept  - will accept the displayed path and create the new geometry from it.
  • Finish  – will create the rubber profiles.
  • Cancel  - will cancel the current rubber profiles.

Select the required edit bar options. Pick the start entity, then indicate the direction of the path by picking a point and finally pick the destination entity of the path.

Depending on the settings you have chosen, the tool could pause at intersections or dead ends. At intersections pick a point to indicate which direction the path is to continue.

Once the path has been identified press the Accept button. If the start or end of the path intersects a crease entity a mask will be displayed along with several handles. By clicking onto one of these handles you can alter the mask profile by dragging and dropping it to a new position. The rubber geometry within the masked area will be deleted.

Press Finish to create the geometry or Cancel to remove the profiles drawn.
