Conditional Entities

  Edit Bar controls: Conditional Expression

Conditional Entities allow the designer to establish choices for a parametric design, thus elevating the number of applications for the final piece. This tool assigns a condition that has to be satisfied for a stated function to apply. For example: a conditional variable can be created and applied to handholds for an RSC on whether they will be placed in the final geometry (True) or not (False) when the parametric is run. If the True statement is selected then that condition is met and the handholds will be placed on resolution of the standard.

To create a Conditional Variable, create the variable as usual under the Variables tab of the Impact Explorer. When the variable is created, select it and click on the Conditional button located on the lower right of that same window. This gives the variable a conditional status.

When the Conditional Entities tool is run, this new variable will appear in the Conditional Expression drop-down located in the Edit Bar. Once selected, apply the variable to the desired Geometry and/or Dimensions by clicking on them. You will see the condition applied by noting the variable appearing on the selected piece.
