Edit Bar controls: Dimension Expression
This tool is used to assign a variable with one or more dimension entities. These variables may be used to create a parametric design. See the section Re-dimension for a description of using parametric designs.
Before using this tool you should create the variables. See Create And Associate Variables. You should also make sure that the Show dimension variable names check box is activated on the Text/Dimensions page of the Visibility Of Geometry form.
Activate the tool and select the variable you want to assign to the dimension from the Dimension Expression pull-down list on the Edit Bar. Pick the dimension you want to assign the variable to by clicking on it. The value displayed on the dimension is changed to the variable name if you are displaying variable names.
You can also enter a mathematical expression using any of the existing variables (for example: A+B-2mm) in the Expression entry field located under the Variables tab on the Impact Explorer. You can then click on the Assign Dimension button located directly to the right of the Expression entry field and then click on the dimension(s) you wish to assign the formula to.
