Document Thumbnail Generation

Document thumbnail images are automatically generated by the Document Provider for some file types (depending on the MIME Type settings), when the document is added or updated.

When Impact needs to display a thumbnail image of a document, it first checks to see if the cache holds a thumbnail of the required size; if it does not them the thumbnail is generated "on the fly".

Document Thumbnail Cache

Documents are cached to improve performance. The cache should be on a network folder, shared by all users. The cache location should be configured in the Paths section of the Database Connection Properties.

From this form you can Clear Thumbnail Cache or Open Folder In Windows Explorer

Automatic Thumbnail Sizes

You can control the sizes of thumbnail images that are written to the cache.

Thumbnail Sizes - a comma-separated list of sizes (in pixels, between 16 and 1024) to be cached.

Background - the colour to be used for the displayed area which is not covered by the thumbnail.
