Palette Mapping entry
Non-native formats (import and export)
This section is used to set up attributes in the external file format. Not all attributes are relevant for all file formats. If an attribute is checked then it will be considered when doing the mapping, otherwise it will be ignored.
Line
Enter the line type number to map to. Alternatively, for Postscript import and export, a colour can be selected from the dropdown box and the corresponding numeric value will be automatically entered into the line type field.
Although the terminology sometimes varies, the following list should give a good idea of how this entry maps to other file formats:-
- Postscript - Colour number
- CFF2 - Line-type value
- DDES2 - Line-type value
- DDES3 - Line-type value
- AutoCAD - Colour number
- HPGL - Pen number
- IGES - Colour number
- Elcede DieCAD - Line-type value
- Marbach Interchange - Line-type value
AuxLine
Enter the auxiliary line type number.
This is only relevant for the following file formats:-
- CFF2 - Auxiliary line-type
- HPGL - Line-type value
- Elcede DieCAD - Auxiliary line-type
Cutwidth
Enter the cut width.
This is only relevant for the following file formats:-
- Postscript - Line width
- CFF2 - Cut width
- DDES2 - Cut width
- DDES3 - Cut width
- Elcede DieCAD - Cut width
- Marbach Interchange - Cut width
Knifeheight
Enter the knife height.
This is only relevant for the following file format:-
- Marbach Interchange - Knife height
Layer name
Enter the layer name.
This is only relevant for the following file formats:-
- AutoCAD - Layer name (Import and export)
- DDES3 - Layer ID (Import and export)
- PDF - Layer name
Specifically, for PDF export, if this option is enabled then the PDF layer name is defined here, otherwise the palette name is used as the PDF layer name.
MR Channel (X: and Y:)
Enter the make-ready channel widths (in the X and Y directions).
This is only relevant for the following file format:-
- Marbach Interchange - Make-ready channel width
Line Style
Enter the line style.
This is only relevant for the following file format:-
- AutoCAD - Line type name (Import and export)
Postscript format (export only)
Extend and round path ends
This is not actually a mapping option, but it allows the path ends to be treated differently for each palette when exporting to the Postscript Image Setter format.
Impact format (import only)
Select the required radio button and then complete the appropriate field.
These options are only valid when an Impact drawing is being imported, with the option Apply palette mapping switched on. They are used to describe a palette in the imported drawing.
Palette type
From the pulldown list choose the palette type.
Regular Expression
Enter the required regular expression. Any palette that matches the entered regular expression will be included in the palette mapping. For example, the expression ^Cut.* would match Cut 2pt, Cut 3pt and any other palettes starting with Cut.
Impact Project
Select the required radio button and then complete the appropriate field.
Palette
From the pulldown list choose the palette.
When a palette has been chosen, the Update button becomes enabled. Pressing the Update button causes the Cutwidth, Knifeheight and MR Channel (X: and Y:) fields to be filled in with the values taken from the chosen palette’s settings.
Palette Type
From the pulldown list choose the palette type.
Use regular expression
Enter the regular expression to match one or more palette names. Any palette that matches the entered regular expression will be included in the palette mapping. For example, the expression ^Cut.* would match Cut 2pt, Cut 3pt and any other palettes starting with Cut.
Prompt for the palette to use
If either Palette Type or Use regular expression are selected then this option becomes available.
At import time, if this option is switched on and more than one palette matches then you will be offered a list of matching palettes to choose from. The process is described in the Resolve palette mappings section of the Import Tool.
If the option is switched off then the first matching palette found will be used.
