Layer Properties - General

This tab is available for all layer types.

Layer Properties - General

Name

Enter a suitable name by which to refer to the drawing layer. This name must be unique. Furthermore, you cannot use a name which is already used by blocks or symbols in the drawing.

Description

Enter a description to reflect what the drawing layer will be used for.

Type

From the drop-down list choose whether this drawing layer is to be a one-up, a multi-up or a custom layer type, if any have been configured. This layer type determines what database fields are to be available for the layer.

NOTE: You can create new layer types via Database>Administration.

Material

From the Master Tool Settings, choose a material for the current layer or for the creation of a new layer.

Preferred Face

Choose the preferred face, such as Print-Face, Die-Face or As Is. These names can be configured from the Environment - Terminology settings. If a preferred face is specified, the project's visible face will automatically change when you make the layer current. See Utilities - Face Settings for more information. Use As Is (the default) to prevent any automatic switching. 

Sessions

There are several icons that are used to describe the status of the layer. Hover the cursor over each of them to see the message.

Parametric Status

This icon details whether the current layer has a saved parametric model inserted. The possible messages are as follows:-

Valid Parametric Model
Invalid Parametric Model
No Saved Parametric Model

Layout Status

This icon details whether the current layer is a layout. The possible messages are as follows:-

Contains Composite Layout
Contains Layout of Name
No Layout

Stripper Status

This icon details whether the current layer contains stripper data. The possible messages are as follows:-

Contains Stripper With n Regions
No Stripper Session Information

Dieboard Status

This icon details whether the current layer contains dieboard data. The possible messages are as follows:-

Contains Dieboard
No Dieboard Session Information

Status

Depending on the status of the layer you'll see one of the following messages:-

Drawing layer not checked out from project database
Drawing layer checked out from project database
New layer added to working project

If modifications have been made to the layer you'll see one of the following messages, depending on whether or not the layer is locked:-

The layer has been added or modified in this drawing.
WARNING: The layer has been modified but cannot be saved.
