Folders

The Folders pane shows:

  • Top level node for the primary database connection; that is the database to which you logged in. There are sub-nodes for:
    • Projects - projects displayed by group
    • Customers - projects displayed by customer. (For adding/modifying customers, use Database - Customer.)
    • Working Projects - a list of projects currently assigned to you. (Most users see only their own working projects, but administrators can see them all, grouped by user ID.)
    • Invitations - Lists the projects that you have granted access to for specific users
    • Templates - displayed by group
    • Symbols - displayed by group

Some of these items may be hidden by your system administrator, depending on your user privileges. Additionally, administrators see: Locked Templates, Locked Symbols, Database Locks.

Click on a folder to see the items it contains in the List View Pane.

  • Queries - allowing database searches to be executed/modified/created. (You can also get to Queries using the Find / Advanced Find tools or using File - Browser Query from the Impact main menu. Queries are actually stored as Master Tool Settings.)
  • Additional top level nodes may added for access to other database connections (for example, to other sites via a WAN). To create one, right-click the primary database connection node and choose Add Connection from the context menu. This will open the Project Database Connection form.
  • Additional top level nodes may be added for access to database transfer files. (These are normally used to transfer projects from one database to another.) To create one, right-click the primary database connection node and choose Import from the context menu, then choose the dts or ips file.

The Folders toolbar contains tools for managing the folders (groups). Alternatively, right-clicking any item displays a context menu showing the available tools.

Right-click on a project, template or symbol folder to display the context menu with the following options:

  • Expand/Collapse - To expand or collapse the current tree-list node
  • Find in Folder - Opens the Advanced Find form
  • New Folder - Create a new folder below the current folder
  • Rename - Rename the current folder (only available for sub-folders)
  • Move to - Displays the Project tree-list, and allows you to pick a sub-folder into which the current folder should be moved (only available for sub-folders)
  • Copy to - Displays the Project tree-list of other connected databases. Allows you to copy the current folder to another database (only available for sub-folders)
  • Delete - Delete the current sub-folder
  • Export - Allows you to export the current folder via the Database Export Options form (only available for sub-folders)
  • Show Attributes - This is a check-box that enables the display, at the bottom of the pane, of attributes such as Hidden and Read-only
  • Create Lock - Create a lock on the current sub-folder 
  • Properties - Opens the Project Folder Properties form

Right-click on the Customers folder to display the context menu with the following options:

  • Expand/Collapse - Expand or collapse the current tree-list node
  • Properties - Show properties of an individual customer (only available when the folder is expanded and a customer is highlighted)
  • Show Inactive - Toggle the display of inactive customers. This option is only applicable if the User Privilege - Database > Customers > View Inactive in Browser has been enabled
  • Documents - Open the Documents form for the highlighted customer

Copy to

Selecting this option displays the Copy Folder form, from where you can choose a folder from a different connected database. Choose the required folder. This will bring up the Copy to Database form.

Create Lock

Selecting this option adds an entry to the Database Locks folder. If you then Right-click on one of these entries a context menu with the following options will be displayed:

  • Clear - Clear the highlighted lock
  • Clear all - Clear all locks in the folder
  • Create Lock - This opens the Create Database Lock form where you can specify the type of lock to create
  • Refresh - Refresh the list of displayed items
