Explode

Post Processors - Explode

This section determines any special functions that need to be carried out on geometry to enable them to be correctly output to a machine.

Text to Lines

Explode the text into individual lines and arcs.

If arcs are to be exploded, choose what they should be exploded into.

Lines

This option causes arcs to be broken down into line segments.

Arc segments

This option causes arcs to be broken down into shorter arcs.

Selecting either of the above two options causes two further options to be enabled, allowing the configuration of the allowances to determine the number of lines or arcs to be created:

Max. No. of Segments

Enter the number of line or arc entities that the arc is to be broken into. If this is set to zero, then the following option will be used to calculate the number of lines or arcs.

Tolerance

This will only be taken into account if the maximum number of segments is set to zero. It defines the maximum deviation between the original arc and the centre of the line segment or the centre of the chord for the case where arcs are exploded to shorter arcs.

Quadrant segments

This option causes large arcs to be broken down into arc segments of no more than 90 degrees.

Beziers to arcs and lines

This option causes Beziers to be broken down into arc and line segments.

Combination lines

This option causes entities of combination palettes (such as cut/crease) to be broken down to entities of the underlying palettes.

Zipper lines

This option causes entities of zipper palettes to be broken down to line and arc segments.

Wave lines

This option causes entities of wave palettes to be broken down into line and arc segments.

Zigzag lines

This option causes entities of zigzag palettes to be broken down into line and arc segments.

Cascade lines

This option causes entities of cascade palettes to be broken down into line segments.

These expansions can be inspected in the Intermediate drawing.

Lock direction of exploded special rule types

When this option is switched on, the child entities of an exploded Combination, Zipper, Wave etc. will all be locked in the same direction as the parent entity.

This is particularly useful where there is a visible defect with sample makers when two adjacent cuts from a cut-crease entity are plotted in opposite directions.

If the user sets the initial directions of the adjacent cut-crease entities to be the same, then consistency will be achieved.

It should be noted that this option will most likely make plots take slightly longer if they include special rules. So, if the drawing doesn't have the visible defect described above, then it is recommended that this option should be switched off so as to achieve the fastest speeds possible.
