Saved Visibility

Visibility settings can be saved and then reapplied from the Impact Explorer - Visibility page - Saved Visibility Settings.

Name

Enter the unique MTS name.

Description

Enter an optional description for this setting.

Saved Visibility - Actions

This page describes what should be done with the settings that have been configured on the other pages. For each of the pulldown lists you have three possible options

  • Leave unchanged - the visibility settings of the associated group will not be changed.
  • Restore saved - the visibility settings of the associated group will set to match those that have been configured.
  • All visible - the visibility settings of the associated group will all be switched on.

Save Visibility - Palettes

All of the palettes in the current drawing, or Master Template if no drawing is open, will be listed in the table. Select the palettes that you wish to make visible. The visibility of all other palettes will be switched off.

These settings are applied if the Palettes pulldown list on the Actions tab is set to Restore saved.

 

Saved Visibility - Palette Types

All of the palette types will be listed in the table. Select the palette types that you wish to make visible. The visibility of all other palette types will be switched off.

These settings are applied if the Palette types pulldown list on the Actions tab is set to Restore saved.

 

Saved Visibility - Layers

This form will be blank initially. Right-click the mouse to give a context menu with the following options:

  • Add - this option adds a new layer to the list. You should type in the layer name.
  • Layers - this option gives a list of existing layers in the current drawing. You should select the required one.
  • Edit - this option allows you to type in a different name for the highlighted layer name.
  • Delete - use this option to remove the highlighted layer name from the list.

If the Layers pulldown list on the Actions tab is set to Restore saved, then the layers named in this list will be made visible. The visibility of all other layers will be switched off.

 

Saved Visibility - Inserts

This form will be blank initially. Right-click the mouse to give a context menu with the following options:

  • Add Symbol - this option adds a new symbol to the list. You should type in the symbol name.
  • Add from Database - this option opens the Select Symbol form and allows you to choose a symbol from your database.
  • Symbols - this option gives a list of existing symbols in the current drawing. You should select the required one.
  • Add Block - this option adds a new block to the list. You should type in the block name.
  • Blocks - this option gives a list of existing blocks in the current drawing. You should select the required one.
  • Add Inserted Layer - this option adds an inserted layer to the list. You should type in the layer name.
  • Inserted Layer - this option gives a list of existing inserted layers in the drawing. You should select the required one.
  • Edit - this option allows you to type in a different name for the highlighted entry.
  • Delete - use this option to remove the highlighted entry from the list.

If the Inserts pulldown list on the Actions tab is set to Restore saved, then the block, symbol and layer insertions named in this list will be made invisible. The visibility of all other insertions will be switched on.

 

Saved Visibility - Settings - Block Appearance

Blocks

Extents Rectangle

When this option is switched on a grey rectangle is drawn around the current block.

Non-Current Special

When this option is switched on all items that are not in the current block are displayed in the non-current colour. This is to help to emphasise which entities are in the current block by greying out all other entities.

These colours (the rectangle and non-current) can be modified via Options - Environment - Colours - Drawing - Block Extents / Non Current.

Inserts

Block Insert Origins

Switching this option on causes the origin (that is the insertion point) of blocks to be shown with an X-axis/Y-axis marker.

Current Block Only

If this option is switched on then only the origins of blocks inserted directly into the current block will be shown. i.e. the origins of sub-blocks will not be shown.

Block Name

If this option is switched on then the block names will be shown under the origin points.

Pixels

Enter the required size of the origin marker and the block name character width.

Designs as Filled Areas

This option is used to display one-up shapes more clearly. When it is turned on, then any areas within each block which are enclosed in palettes of cut type (i.e. the designs) will be displayed as a filled area, using the colour defined in Options - Environment - Colours - Drawing - Design Fill (which is light yellow by default).

Saved Visibility - Settings - Common

Visible Face

The terminology used for drawing sides is defined in Database Operation > Terminology. So, these prompts could refer to Print-faceDie-face or InsideOutside. Select the required option. Changing this causes the drawing to be viewed from the "other side" - in other words the drawing is flipped on the screen.

Drawing

Sheet

Switching this option on causes the sheet's extents for multi-up layers to be made visible. When used, the project background that is outside the sheet limits is displayed in a different colour. The sheet size may be modified via the Layer Properties - Sheet form.

Grid

Switching this option on causes the reference grid to be made visible. The intervals of the grid are set up in Snap Settings - Grid and the colours of the grid in Options - Environment - Colours - Grid Dots and Lines.

Current Co-ordinate System Origin

Switching this option on causes the current co-ordinate system origin to be displayed with an X-axis/Y-axis marker, centred at the (0,0) position.

Lines

Use this option to display or hide line entities.

Show Bridges

Use this option to display bridges in lines.

Arcs/Circles

Use this option to display or hide arcs and circles.

Show Bridges

Use this option to display bridges in arcs and circles.

Construction Entities

Use this option to display or hide construction lines and circles.

Beziers

Use this option to display or hide Bezier curves.

Show Bridges

Use this option to display bridges in Bezier curves.

Saved Visibility - Settings - Geometry Appearance

Geometry

Direction Arrows

All lines, arcs, circles and Bezier curves have a direction. This option causes a marker to be drawn approximately halfway along the entity showing the direction (pointing from the start point to the end point). The size is controlled via the Pixels value.

Start Point Markers

This option causes an arrow marker to be drawn at the start point of all lines, arcs, circles and Bezier curves. The size is controlled via the Pixels value.

End Point Markers

This option causes an arrow marker to be drawn at the end point of all lines, arcs, circles and Bezier curves. The size is controlled via the Pixels value.

Last Point / Entity Marker

This option causes a square marker to be displayed at the last point picked.

Palette Information

This option causes palette text to be displayed beside each entity. Each palette must first have its text specified via the Palette Attributes - Display form.

Common Knives

This option causes entities which were hidden by the common knife tool to be displayed. Normally they are "replaced" in the multi-up layer with the common knife block. See Diemaking - Common Knife - Create common knife block.

Conditional Standard Geometry

This option causes the appropriate text to be displayed with parametric entities.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing Info

This option causes palette manufacturing attributes to be displayed. These are configured via the Palette Attributes form. For example, zipper lines and combination lines will be shown as they are to be cut rather than as a single line.

Tool Widths

This option causes line, arc, circle and Bezier entities to be drawn "thick", according to the palette width, configured via the Palette Attributes form.

Draw Sausage Lines

This option causes line, arc, circle and Bezier entities to be drawn "thick", according to the sausage table settings that you have chosen from the drop-down list. These are configured in the Master Tool Settings - Sausage Tables.

Secondary Palette

This option is for entities which have secondary palettes assigned to them. If it is switched on they are displayed using the secondary palette instead of the primary one. Secondary palettes are assigned using Edit Entities - Change Properties tool.

Fillet Relief

This option causes the fillet relief geometry to be displayed on arcs where it has been set using the Edit Entities - Change Properties tool.

Saved Visibility - Settings - Key Points

Display Key Points

Switch this option on to enable square markers to be drawn around special points in the drawing.  These options are often used to detect small gaps in the design which would be difficult to find otherwise.

For a complex drawing, these key points can be slow to determine, so their use could be detrimental to the viewing performance.

Choose one of:

  • Show key points in all visible blocks - this could be slow in a complex drawing
  • Show key points in the current block only - this option is likely to be quicker

The types of key points are:

Ends in space

These are entity start/end points which are neither joined, nor near to other points.

Near Ends

These are entity start/end points which are close to other points, but not joined.

Intersections

These are points where entities cross.

Joined Ends

These are entity start/end points which are coincident with other points.

For each of these types, you can specify a colour from Environment Options - Colours - Key points and a size in pixels for the markers.

Two tolerances define whether points are in space, near to each other or joined:

Space / Near Tolerance

If the distance between two points is greater than the tolerance, they are in space, otherwise they are near.

Near / Joined Tolerance

This value would normally be smaller than the Space/Near Tolerance. If the distance between two points is greater than this tolerance, they are near, otherwise they are joined.

Saved Visibility - Settings - Others

Graphics

Use this option to either hide or show graphics entities.

Show extents only

This option causes only a rectangle to be drawn around the graphic entity and the graphic attributes to be shown.

Show both faces simultaneously

This option causes both the print-face and the die-face side of the graphic entities to be displayed.

Perimeter Quality

This option allows you to choose how accurately the image clipping is calculated. (This has no effect on rectangular images.)

Image Quality

This option allows you to control how the graphic entities are drawn on the screen.

Both quality settings may affect the viewing performance - the lower the quality, the quicker viewing operations will perform.

Report Drawing Areas

This option is used to display or hide report drawing (or border plot) areas.

Profile Rubbers

This option is used to display or hide profile rubber entities.

Saved Visibility - Settings - Text / Dimensions

Text

Use this option to display or hide text entities.

Show database field and variable names

This option causes the entity to display how the text is calculated, rather than the result of the calculation. For instance, the name of the database field would be displayed rather than the contents of that field.

Show missing and uncalculated values

This option is only applicable when the previous option is switched off. If the text result cannot be calculated then a warning message is shown instead.

Show sub-block text entities

If this option is switched on then all text in sub-blocks will be shown. If it is switched off then you can choose from the following sub-options:

Show in one layer insert

If this option is chosen, then only text within the first insertion of any block is shown. This will simplify the drawing when a complex block is inserted multiple times.

Do not show in any layer inserts

If this option is chosen, then text will not be shown in any sub-blocks.

Greek text smaller than

If this option is switched on then any text smaller than the specified number of pixels will be displayed as an outline rather than in detail (for better performance).

Dimensions

Use this option to display or hide dimension entities.

Show dimension variable names

When variables are associated with dimensions, the variable name (or expression) is displayed instead of the dimension value. See Utilities - Parametrics - Associate Variables.

Show sub-block dimension entities

If this option is switched on then all dimensions in sub-blocks will be shown. If it is switched off then you can choose from the following sub-options:

Show in one layer insert

If this option is chosen, then only dimensions entities within the first insertion of any block are shown. This will simplify the drawing when a complex block is inserted multiple times.

Do not show in any layer inserts

If this option is chosen, then dimension entities will not be shown in any sub-blocks.

Show non-parametric dimensions

Switch this option on to display non-parametric dimensions.

Show parametric dimensions

Switch this option on to display parametric dimensions.
