Edit Bar controls: Current Scale, Scale To
This tool allows you to zoom in and out of the drawing and to pan across it.
- Current Scale - displays the current scale.
- Scale To - you can quickly select from a range of common scale factors (choose from 10%, 25%, 50%, 100%, 200%)
When you start the tool the cursor is displayed as a hand.
To pan: click on a part of the drawing, hold the mouse button down and drag the cursor across the drawing area. Release the mouse button when the view is positioned correctly.
To zoom: hold down the Shift key on the keyboard - notice that the cursor changes to a magnifying glass. Click on a part of the drawing that you wish to zoom in to or away from and hold down the mouse button (while continuing to hold down Shift).
Now move the cursor slowly down the screen to zoom into the chosen area and move it slowly up to zoom out. Release the mouse button when you are happy with the view.
Note that releasing Shift simply reverts the tool to pan mode, useful for fine adjustments after having zoomed in.
As you are zooming in and out, the Edit Bar shows your current viewing scale. If you wish you can use the Scale To pulldown list to zoom in/out directly to a set scale (for example 100% is 1-to-1).
Another way to move around the drawing is to use the Pan And Zoom Toolbox.
